well thanks all for your input cant really tell if its to or tc will be going out to get a better lens will send more pics of these marks.Is it suitable for me to clean this piece or do I leave it be?

Can anyone verify my research on this piece; seems to be work of Mr Holmes Sr., Boston, MA was making between 1737 - 1783.

could the date be a sample of his work for he was listed as a buffer on the 1850 census and spoon maker on 1870 census

Hello my name is ess and would like to ask question about Mr Johnson.My research has a Jonathan Burr Johnson as a buffer in 1850,the spoon has a mark J Johnson and on the handle has a date of 1852 could this be a salesman sample or makers sample? Thanks for any help will send picks soon.
