H does not fit the spacing.Traintime wrote:I'm thinking N or H for one letter...B,P,R, or S for second.
S also does not seem as a possibility.
But did any maker comes to mind?

I do not fully understand.Traintime wrote:Just to be clear, its definitely the one mark turned around and struck a second time (or more appropriately..mis-struck).
But I forgot to mention that the images shows the same mark but one is upside down.

Unclear Gold Makers Marks from Budapest/Pest 1867-1872
https://i.postimg.cc/0jrRjvSh/Unknown-Hallmark.jpg I'm looking for any information on the hallmark I found on a golden ring. I assume it is a Makers Mark. I tried to recreate it basing on the shape and the visible parts. Maybe it will help in some way. The maker, basing on other marks, worked in Bu...

But it is possible for an item to have 2 city marks and be valid?
AG2012 wrote:Cannot explain the upper mark which is partially struck.
The mark with fox head bearing P indicates the ring was made i Budapest, Hungary. The other mark was possibly added later.

Re: Gold Ring - 2 diamonds - 1 sapphire - [3 Hallmarks to identify]
Can there be hallmarks from 2 towns ? C from C4 P from the Dog Then it is Budapest (Hungary). P is short for Pest because there were two towns in the past, i.e. Buda and Pest,The Danube river between them, then they united to become Budapest.Traditionally, letter P was assigned to them. See here: htt...

What if the dog has P on the left?

Austria-Hungary 1872 to 1922.
14K Gold Standard Fox Head Hallmark in irregular hexagon. The letter on the left of it cannot be seen, if C seen on the secondary mark, then it was made in Prague.Number 4 on the right of it = 14 karat gold.

Re: Gold Ring - 2 diamonds - 1 sapphire - [3 Hallmarks to identify]
So on your photo someone placed twice the letter C ? Why the C4 marks are so differyou ( your photo and mine)? Dog`s head mark for silver was different. Prague was in Austria-Hungary Empire at the time and its assay office was assigned town number C (not date letter). A was for Vienna, B for Budapes...

Re: Gold Ring - 2 diamonds - 1 sapphire - [3 Hallmarks to identify]
Thank you for the photos. If I may ask more questions. I am new to the world of Hallmarks. So on the image the re are C4 and C Marks. As you said C4 is for Prague and 14K gold? Is C the date letter then? The hallmark with the dogs/foxs head is listed as a mark for silver. Why is it on the golden rin...

Re: Gold Ring - 2 diamonds - 1 sapphire - [3 Hallmarks to identify]
Oh, wow. I wasn't expecting to receive a reply so fast and so specific. So the big Hexagonal mark is with the dog/fox. The smaller one might have indeed C and 4, as I suspected. Do you have maybe a photos of those marks in better shape ? Are there any informations about the oval mark? Hi, Austria-Hu...
