Re: Chinese Marks on old Porringer?

Japanese silverware. The maker's name is "宫本", and the other mark "純銀" means that it is made of pure silver, probably of higher grade than 925.

Need help identifying possibly German hallmarks

Hi, I got a pair of silver fruit knife and fork, and a single fruit knife. The pair of knife and fork has the usual crown and 800 marks, and the silversmith's mark looks like a flower, possibly tulip. But I could not find any matches in the plant themed hallmarks on silvercllection.it. The other sing...

Re: What do these marks mean?

Thanks for your answer. I managed to track down the manufacturer. They confirmed that these are silvehandled dining knives, but they give rather vague answers to my question. They only said that the handle was hollow, and "R 25g" meant that the weight of the handle was about 25 grams. I am...

What do these marks mean?

I have some Italian silver flatware made by Zaramella Argenti. On one side of the handle, there are the usual Italian hallmarks. But on the other side, there are a letter "R" in a square which is then followed by "25g". I googled but could not find the answer. Does anyone know an...

Re: Is this Russian silverware?

As far as I know, there were a large groups of Russian diaspora in Xinjiang and Norther eastern provinces of China following the Russian Revolution. There are still people living these places nowadays. But since 1980s, most of them migrated to North America and countries like Australia.

Thanks a lot! That really might be the case. The marks do look like the Second Kokoshinik, but there are some discrepancies.

Is this Russian silverware?

I stumbled upon 12 pairs of dessert forks and knives. There are hallmarks on the blades and tines. I cannot find any seams between the handles and the blades and tines. Does that mean they are all made of solid silver? Unforunately, all the hallmarks are so ruubed that there is only one still has re...

Re: Mark on small pot very heavy covered in black

It could be Chinese or Japanese. The mark can be read as "宮岐" or "岐宮", depending on how you read it. If the pot is really old stuff (made in 19th century), you read from the right to left. If not, your read it from left to right. The font is the old seal character. The image in t...

Re: Help identifying mark chinese - ZhengYoung?

There are no hallmarks. There is only the name of the engraver in the last image. It looks like a recent one. I know it might sound offensive. But silverware made in that period usually came with hallmarks specifying the silver content like "足銀", and the name of the workshop that made it....

Re: Strange English hallmark on a spoon

I don't know. I brought the said spoon and a 800 Italian fork and some other pieces to the bullion shop. Both were tested by the guy who buys silver and gold for a living. The Italian one checks out alright. The test result of the spoon came as a surprise. My other unmarked British cake lifter is te...

Re: asian china japan india silver hallmarks identify help

Thanks a lot! The bowl and ladle are marked "เงินที่ 1 พิเศษ". Their wieght is the same as marked. However, the silver content does not. I took both to a bullion shop and had them scanned with a silver-purity-testing scanner. The bowl contains about 50 to 67 percent of silver, while the la...
