Re: Question on this very English coat of arms
Thank you, Sir. Again, It seemed to me this was engraved at a later time than the porringer was made.

Re: Is this an English coat of arms?
https://i.imgur.com/4wEgYVB.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/z5Oyj8E.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/8nsr0Z6.jpg This is a large piece of Queen Anne porringer, or a trophy due to its size. My query is what is this embossed on it? Looks like a coat of arms or otherwise. I have a hint of doubt if this engraved at...

Thank you for advice.
It looks to me double marked if this happened to other Mexico pieces as well. I can merely see "STERLING" mark in reverse orientation to "925".

Marked with ABD in conjoined circles, London assay office etc.
I got this very interested scissors recently in Canada. It has marks of ABD in two conjoined circles, 925 in circle, a mark of London assay office and letter O, meaning this is a foreign made piece with British silver import mark, the London office mark in particular, and date marked in 1929. My que...

Got this gravy boat in Canada last week. Even with hours of searching online but find no clue what are words on the mark engraved except "925". It is a sterling and a US/Canadian piece to me, please correct me if it's not and please advise what are words on the mark? https://i.imgur.com/dS...

Re: Mappin Brothers silver plated? is the sun face mark means for?
Thank you very much Phil and Trev. This sun face mark is the trade mark then. My first thought of S mark was "Sheffield" and second thought it might be an indication of solid silver with content lower than sterling. I do have some very identical pieces, as per photos, clearly marked "...

Thank you. This is new to me that 40 could indicate quantity of silver used in plating.

Mappin Brothers silver plated? is the sun face mark means for?
I got a big lot of Mappin brothers' utensils recently. A few of them have marks "MAPPIN" "BROTHERS" "A or A1" "SUN FACE" which are no doubt silver plated. In contrast, more of them have only marks as photos shown, and also have a "S" mark in distance...

Help please. Is this a mark for 40% of silver?
This fork looks like Scandinavian to me, but I couldn't find a clue even after heavy search in google. What is the brand/origin of it? is the 40 indicates contents of silver? and date of making, it seems antique and monogrammed. Thank you very much. https://i.imgur.com/MESfxaH.jpg https://i.imgur.co...

Re: Please help to identify this hall mark...
Hi, I think it is older German orthography with Ö and TH in the end of the word LÖTH .Danish and Norwegian alphabet have letter Ø, Swedish has letter Ö, equivalent to German Ö, but 12 Loth was not used. In short, I think it`s German. Regards Thank you for advice. Happy to learn from it. It’s a Germ...

Re: Please help to identify this hall mark...
Thank you so much Martin. This mark is new to me. Is this a German spoon or Scandinavian? In spoon front, it engraved with a family logo with letter A/C, likely tailor-made.juantotree wrote:Hi
It says 12 Loth, a European measurement of silver content.
