Sterling ring and 16 diamonds

Hi all. I found a ring which is marked .925 inside the band on one side, and on the other is a symbol which looks like a dollar sign with one line instead of two. It could also be a C over a D. There are what appear to be 16 little diamonds in the setting. The ring weighs about 5 grams total. Can anyone help me identify the mark which looks like a dollar sign? All help would be appreciated. Thank you

An "S" with a vertical line through it or a one line dollar sign is the hallmark for the Dakota South company. Hope that helps. Carol
