Help with marks -- much appreciated

Post by bytebit »

Hi there. I acquired this (sterling silver?) letter opener. 10 inches in length. Image Image Do you or someone you know who can help me with identifying the marks on this letter opener? Thanks for your time with this matter, David

'JD & S' are marks for James Deakin & Son of Sheffield. The 'EP' means it's electroplated.
The last one is the trade mark (a desk bell)

Hi David,

It's not a letter-opener, but a meat skewer. Having said that, they do make excellent letter openers.
