Re: Is this fake English silver?
I found this silver in bulk box of flatware, no town mark and I can't find anything about this maker who made similar marks. Thanks.

Certainly not British hallmarks.
The king's head looks more like Pinocchio than George III.
But are you sure it's solid silver?

No, in fact I have my doubts about it. I guess I'll have to test it at a coin shop.

Suspect this is 19th century Chinese Export, Wong Shing/Wong Hsing of Canton is noted as using a set of pseudo-marks including both a 'T' and 'W' - moving this to the Far East forum for other eyes...

I think Cheryl is correct. Wong Shing is indeed the most likely candidate for the maker. He did use a considerable amount of different punches on his work.

I think Gmgs silverplate would give us a great gift if he tested his cutlery and could tell us for sure if they are solid silver or not.
Knowing for certain what material the cutlery is made of would be of great help, to classify those marks, so naive.

Hello amena. Kind regards. I took the spoons to my local coin shop and they said it was shooting sterling on their xrf gun. I refused to allow them to cut into the spoons and do the acid test. deep chop mark in one of them, I had him focus on that area, and he told me it was reporting 88% silver. Interesting. I will just have to be happy with that.
