TEARE, John (Grimwade p.679)

Post by MCB »

He was listed in the 1841 UK Census at Crown Court as a goldsmith aged 50 years, born in Ireland and living with his wife Charlotte and six of their children.
Land Tax assessments were made on him at this address until 1846. The 1847 Land Tax assessment book shows the property had been demolished.
His son Benjamin’s marriage record in 1848 at St James, Clerkenwell shows an address at Penton Place, Pentonville after which no record of his father or any of the family has been found.

I think the reason Mike was unable to find any further information regarding John Teare and his family after the late 1840's is that I think this may well be the same John Teare who was to become Warden, and later Master, of the Dublin Goldsmiths' Company during the 1850's.
