Norwegian Maker's Mark

Post by jankl239 »

Hello, this must be a Norwegian maker because "Handarbeid" is a norwegian word. I would like to know the name of the manufacturer. Can somebody help?

Thx

"Handarbeit" is also German, but this is as you assume Norwegian. To my understanding the maker is Thomas Henrik Borgen, born 1870 and dead 1937. His active period was 1898-1929 in Skarpsborg, Norway. Norwegian marks are not always "clear/unambiguous". There were no dots in Borgen's mark, but he could have used several punches, who knows?

Thank you very much. In german it is Handarbeit with "t" at the end. So I knew that it is not from Germany.
