Glass with silver

Post by madej »

Hi.
Have you ever met such a glass or a mug set in 84 silver? It fits perfectly in a tea glass holder, but it's not that?
Regards

Uncommon combination of cut glass insert and Russian trompe-l'œil podstakanik.
There are several issues:
1.Do marks on the insert match the marks on podstakanik ?
2.Applying marks on silver rim over glass is not possible unless one brakes the glass; on the other hand, it`s possible to detach the silver rim, apply marks and then fix the rim again.
3.Original glass for podstakanik silver is a rare find, and most of the time it`s an ordinary thin glass insert, sometimes etched. Besides, the style does not match trompe-l'œil. I have never seen cut glass insert, but I have not seen everything to judge.

Hi.AG2012
I bought the tea glass/mug separately. I only mention that it fits in the tea glass holder. The silver was so patinated that the silver marks could not be seen before it was cleaned. My question is whether it can be a glass for a tea glass Holder or rather for water, juice or other drink.

In Holland we call this a glass or crystal spoon vase with silver rim. Above some examples

Hi.Oel
I wonder if it has the purpose as you write, or if it is a drinking vessel. I have never seen such a glass with silver marks 84 before.

Hi.
We are left with the fact that it is a dish for spoons?

Think "Toilet Set".
It could be a toiletry glass.
There may have been a lid.

In addition.

The tea glasses were thin. Thick-walled faceted crystal glass will collapse if you pour boiling water.
