I understand all the markings except the star - any knowledgeable people out there?

I am asking of what significance the star is -

The star is for domestically produced silver during WWII, the star mark was used from April 1943-1945 (according to Carpenter's Book), I think they state April 19, 1943, but I have also seen it April 7, 1943 as the start date for the star mark.
