Nikolai Kemper St. Petersburg ?

Post by silverfan »

On my silver match safe I found a maker's mark NK in cyrillic. Is it Nikolai Kemper from St. Petersburg?
BTW perhaps somebody can tell me the translation of the in gold written text.

Yes it is Nikolay Fyodorovich Kemper in StP 1892-1908. Unfortunately I'm unable to read the text. Is it Russian at all? If so, very difficult handwriting, sorry!

It also looks like cursive Russian Cyrillic, which could be a headache to decipher!

Hi NDemidov,.
it has taken more than one and a half month until a member has found the solution. Many thanks!! So the text is Russian and cyrillic!? I understand your answer as follows: In the first row we read the initial letters of 2 Christian names A and C and in the second row we read the family name Boyadjyan. Is that perhaps an Armenian name? I try to find out if there is eventually a relation to far family ancestors .

Hi silverfan!
The inscription is made in Armenian language. You are absolutely right: the first two letters are the initials of the names, then the surname (Boyadjyan).
*The correct transcription is not “A and C”, but “A and S”.
