Art Deco & Indian Sub-Continent

Post by silverly »

Don’t know where to start with this item, but anything at all would be appreciated, especially a move to the right forum or wherever seems most appropriate.

Hi
Don't look so far away.
Almost certainly European, probably early 1900s Italian.
A more complete mark image might help

Thank you. At first one of the marks looked like it could be an elephant. But the style of the piece didn’t make me think India. So Italy did cross my mind, but I had nothing definite to go on. I’m not sure I can do a shot of the mark that will be any clearer. A lot going on right now, but eventually, I will try. Thanks again.

Hello
Agree with Amena that this is European production.

Here are some wildly speculative comments for your consideration:
-Despite the blurry images I see the “Three towers” assay mark from Denmark, and a Georg Jensen maker mark. See mark #8
https://www.925-1000.com/jensen_marks.html
-The handle of the mirror appears to be Jensen’s Pyramid pattern.
-However the 900 mark is puzzling.
-A Google search for Jensen hand mirrors will show you many examples to compare with yours.

Good luck in your research.

Regards.

Hi,
The Danish three tower mark guarantees a minimum fineness of 826/1000, unless a higher standard mark is indicated, here 900.

Don’t know if these images add anything, but there the best that I could do. Thank both for the replies, suggestion and information.

Hello, suspect Heinrich Mohr from Pforzheim, do not see a Danish mark here. There are some Mohr objects on the net with quite similiar marks. Regards, Bahner

Thank you Bahner. Excellent! Here’s an image from another mirror that is attributed to Mohr:
