Henry Lamb died on 15 August 1913, succeeded by his son Matthew was a watchmaker, jeweller and silversmith. Mathew died in the 1940’s and the shop passed to Henry Lamb, a grandson of Henry. In 1969 the business moved to York Road and in the 1980’s it left family ownership and was taken on by a John Davey. Still active into the 21st century.

The “Willcox” name was not listed in “watchmakers” in the 1894 Kelly's Directory of Northumberland.
In this Forum section, there is also a very brief reference relating to T.W. Willcox being at Market place, Alnwick in 1927. There was in fact still a jewellery shop carrying the "T.W.Willcox" name at 12 Market Place, Alnwick at the start of the 21st century.

Hello, in 2017 “Dognose” posted in this Forum section, the below circa 1847 advert promoting a “W.Wilson” as watch selling and watch repairing pawnbroker.
Here is an image of a pocket watch movement, possibly sold, repaired or even “made” (assembled??) by W.Wilson at 105 Pilgrim Street.
This gentleman could have been “William Wilson” with trade directory entries as below at that same 105 Pilgrim St address.

In 2020 we get another Dognose post listed in this section of the Forum showing an advert circa 1909 relating to “J&E Wilson” at Clock House Pilgrim St. Newcastle.

The question is, can the connection be identified between J&E Wilson and the business of William Wilson.
I found a little earlier advert for J&E Wilson. This is circa 1894 and the address is 12 Pilgrim St. also confirming the concern was started in 1780.
The Kelly's directory of Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North & South Shields, & suburbs 1883 adds a little more information as John and Edward Wilson pawn brokers are at 12 Pilgrim St.
We can now see John and Edward Wilson using the same business premises as Wm. Wilson had in 1858. Family possibly, but there is information lacking for the 25 years between 1858 and 1883. We can also see 12 Pilgrim St. is the street corner position with the identified High Friar Lane.

Wilson may of course not be the same person as the 1858 Wm Wilson. Also, Wilson is by no means an uncommon surname, even in Newcastle pawn broking.

Here is possibly some in-fill information. First here is a quote from the 1900's post, that headlined “G. Kuss & Sons”.
“Notice is hereby given, that the business of Watchmakers and Jewellers heretofore carried on by the undersigned Joseph Kuss and William Kuss, at Number 6, Northumberland-street, in the city and county of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, under the style or firm of " G. Kuss and Sons," has as and from the 8th day of May, 1901, been sold to the undersigned, John Barnett Mennie, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, who will alone as from the above mentioned date continue to carry on the same business under the old style or firm of " G. Kuss and Sons."–Dated this eighth day of July, 1901.

There was a change of address from 6, Northumberland-street but J.B.Mennie continued under the style of G.Kuss and Sons at least up to 1910.

By the Ward's Directory of Newcastle-on-Tyne, 1916, this had changed,

In another directory the full name was used, “John Barnett Mennie” at 9 New Bridge St., Newcastle.
J.B Mennie appears to have been incorporated October 1928 and the firm dissolved 2002. I have an image of an advert from 1980 for J.B Mennie Ltd. quoting an address “Princess Square”, and found a secondary reference suggesting no 7 Princess Square.
That seemed to wrap up that firm, but maybe not as there seemed there was J.B Mennie in business before 1900.
There was a J.B Mennie listed in watchmaker records at Gateshead on Tyne (should really be “under” Tyne as it faces Newcastle on the Tyne’s North bank). The pocket watch key suggests a premises at 185 High Street, Gateshead. There are “Mennie” Gateshead signed, pocket watch dials on line with American movements indicating assembly/retailing but here is a movement marked “J.B Mennie” and it was in a case predating 1900.
I could not find a usefully dated Gateshead directory to confirm address or working period though.
