I am pretty sure this is American. Hope I'm posting in the right place as I'm a first time poster. This candle snuffer has an M inside a sheild and markings on either side. I cannot find it on this site or any of the other sites I visit or books that I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty sure it is turn of the century Amercian but have never seen and cannot find this maker mark.
Thanks, Jack

Hello and welcome Jack.
I believe your marks are close plate marks that were used by J. Prime of Birmingham England fron 1839.
