Thomas Pollard Lovasy in 1752 and William Sumner in 1756 became his apprentices. William Sumner II, for whom no apprentice details have previously been found, is referred to by Grimwade on page 674. This apprentice detail may be relevant to him.
Indentures to be his apprentice were also signed by John Merry (Grimwade p.595) in 1763 and Peter Berg in 1764.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Gutter Lane until 1764 and in Aldersgate Street until 1793, a new tenant being assessed from 1794. Trade directory entries at the latter address from 1771-77 described him as a silversmith and jeweller.
His daughter Ann, born in 1750 and for whom no christening record has been found, applied for freedom by patrimony in the Turners' Company in 1786-7. The document shows her father was free in the Company in 1740. This Ann Kersill is not the one mentioned by Grimwade on page 569 of his book.
