Hello to everybody,
I need your help to identify the makersmark on the following object.
The dogs head with the 3 and A was simple.
But I have no idea what is the mark on the right side of the doghead. It is round and it says HD.
On the bottom there are 3 rings and an RS mark.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Identification makers mark Austria / Vienna
One of my friends told me the following regarding the marks. Hereby I forward his response:
'3-whippet-A' Vienna assay mark 1872-1922 of .800 fineness.
'RS' maker's mark of Rudolf Steiner, Vienna, from 1898 on (maybe as journey man?).
'HD' maker's mark of Heinrich Dittrich, Vienna, from 1894 on until 1920 (maybe whole saler?).
'HD' maker's mark of Heinrich Dittrich & Sons, Vienna, from Nov. 1920 on until 1922 (maybe whole saler?).
'Krupp's 3-tyre' mark in Austria since 1938 owners of 'Berndorf' Trust (W. Bachmann, Berndorf, Herrmann, J.C. Klinkosch ...) ('Krupp's 3-tyre' mark is maybe an indication to remember that the item was a 'present' by them?)
Hopefully it solves you problem.

Hello, the three ring mark has nothing to do with Krupp, it is the mark of Viennese maker Adolf Steiner, active around 1902. I wonder why there are three different maker`s mark on the piece. Best wishes, Bahner

Hi Bahner,
thank you for your information. So we have 3 makers marks from 2 different makers. Am I right? Is this common? Whats your opinion?
Just thinking of the time and the place - they could have met. I just have this one peace. Maybe it was a small part of a big thing and they designed it together?
Best regards

Hi,
I would like to resurrect this old post in the light of the below Austrian trade mark information from 1890:
Amother image, this one from 1902:
Krupps Gusssthalfabrik - Essen - 1902
Here are the original images from this topic, now embedded:
Are there any more thoughts on this three-ring mark?
Trev.
