Does anybody know what it is?

Post by Morg »

Hello!

Does anybody know what it is? Its a set with forks and spoons and 1 knife, i don't even know if its silver, sterling, or silverplated. And the top is goldish, is it goldplated or something?
I think its for serving salad, can anybody help me identify this items? I can see some marks but there 'unreadable', only the pattern is visible.

Does anybody know the maker and date by the pattern?

Pattern -> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/dscf4018l.jpg/

Mark, unreadable. -> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/dscf4027w.jpg/

Thanks in advance!

Hi Morg,

Nice Serving set from left to right, because you haven’t provided us with the sizes, a little bit tricky;
Lettuce fork, Lettuce spoon, Bouillon or Gravy server, Piccalilli spoon, Beef fork and Beef serving knife. The tops could be made out of a base metal and gilded and grips could be made out of silver or other base metal and silver plated, as the marks are totally unclear. Late 19th century

Thanks very much!, the handle is hollow, and have an M.S. engraved in it. The sizes of the picadilli spoon is 13cm (5,11 in) and knife is around 27cm (10,6 in).
I still can't take a decent picture of the marks, but the pattern is it a known pattern? I'm from Portugal, don't know if it helps.

Thanks again!! :)
