Hi Everyone,
I’ve had no luck researching this necklace. Hoping someone out there can steer me in the right direction. I thought Middle Eastern, possibly Egypt. Gilt over silver? Marks are tiny! Nearest I can come to describing the shapes is a backward R and a U shape over two dots. Thanks for any help.

Hi Nancy,
A friend pointed out to me that the marks are Portuguese, possibly Gondomar.
Can you post a large clear embedded image of the marks?

Hi,
Thank you for the information. I must have taken 25 photos of the marks, these were the best I was able to get...they are extremely tiny. Can't read them with my strongest loupe.
After your suggestion, I searched Portuguese jewelry & indeed there were several similar pieces.
Best,
Nancy

With the whole Portuguese idea rolling, would it then be a case of "thought it was gilt silver, but its really 19k+ gold" Because that would be pretty sweet! I know a few people who have had that happen!
