These marks are present on a jug I have. I hold no knowledge on Japanese writing - please help.

Hello, the upper two Japanese character mean JUNGIN (pure silver), which normally is 950 and above. The lower two is the maker's mark. How this is helpful.

two japanese character(纯银)mean sterling. the other two character(三越)is the distributors(TYO)

The bottom two marks 三越 are the retailer, the famous Japanese department store Mistukoshi, founded in 1673 and the core company of the Mitsui group.
These are twentieth century marks.
