The members of the North Attleboro Rotary Club are determined to make the most of their opportunity for giving the jewelry industry a good send off in connection with the luncheon meeting that they are to have charge of at the conclave of the 3lst rotarian district at Poland Springs, Me., the latter part of September. Numerous novel features are under consideration and numerous souvenirs will be presented. The entire jewelry industry of the Attleboros have become interested in the project and it is expected that the occasion will be one that will be one of the outstanding events of the conclave. J. Noble Shawe, treasurer of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., of this town, who composed the songs that proved so popular during the recent hotel drive here, has written a North Attleboro verse for the Rotary Club to sing at the jewelry luncheon. The song is set to the music of “Let the Rest of the World Go By.”

Some news of a former employee of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co.:

St. Elmo Coombs, who, because of a nervous breakdown recently was obliged to leave his territory in which he was traveling for the Sunderland & Miller Jewelry Co., 807-809 Title Guarantee building, and who was thought to be recovering rapidly, is not convalescing as fast as he would like. It looks now as if Mr. Coombs will not be able to come to the office until after the first of the year. Mr. Coombs is one of the best known jewelry salesmen on the Pacific Coast. W. E. Sunderland, president of the company, is covering his own territory and that of Mr. Coombs, and although it taxes his efforts he says he is holding his own and Mr. Coombs’ trade and showing an increase over that of last year.
