In 1934 the Italian government introduced a registration system for their country's gold and silversmiths. From that year every company or individual involved in the manufacture of gold and silverware was assigned with a number. The number was incorporated into a mark that also contained an abbreviated version of the province where the manufacturer was registered. Changes to these marks occurred in 1944 and 1968*, but essentially the information contained within them stayed the same.
The object of this topic is identify as many of the registered manufacturers as possible, it is very much a work in progress and will be a long term project.

The assigned date given each number may perhaps not indicate the first use, but is likely to indicate a change in the manufacturer's details.
Where possible, other information regarding these manufacturers will be included, this will include details of their history, type of products known to be made by them, and details of any other known marks used. Where no example of their marks is available, then if the manufacturer's logo is known, this will be added as it may provide a valuable clue as to what a struck mark may possibly appear like.

* Member Amena supplied the following information: The law requiring the new format of the registration mark was enacted January 30, 1968. Nevertheless, the " regolamento di attuazione" (putting into effect regulation) was issued on 30 12 1970, and published in the "Gazzetta ufficiale" (official gazette) August 17, 1971. Thus the new style mark containing the star will not be found marked on items prior to 1971.
