Hello,

i am a passionate coin collector and bought this tastevin with an embedded 1/2 taler coin from Hall, Austria 1632.

Now I would like to know where it was manufactured. The coin itself was used in the entire Holy German Empire, so it doesn't have to be Austria. Can someone help me?

Thx, andreas

Hello Andreas

This item is manufactured in Spain beetwin 1.934 and 1985. Pentagram is national standard hallmark for solid silver of 915 fineness. Letters M & G is the mark of silversmith Manuel Garrido, from Madrid.

In the 50s and 60s of the twentieth century was very common these pieces with embedded coins. If you had an old coin inherited from grandparents wore it to the silversmith and manufactured an ashtray, a little plate, a tastevin or any object that you will apply for. This initiative was very successful, so in the end were manufactured in series, using replicas of coins.

It is very important that you check the coin because it can not be authenticated.
