Crest on heavy French chamber stick

Post by zilverik »

This French chamber stick has a weight of 300 grams. The French minerve mark on all the parts where it should be. No makers mark at all. Also no rubbed mark. Maybe the crest has something to do that there is no makers mark? What family is behind the coat of arms?

Regards,

Zilverik

On the viewer's left the shield is blue with three silver trefoils. The crest is a swan with the word UTINAM on its wing. This belongs to the family du Bois, comte de Tertu. (Count of Tertu). There seems to be quite a bit of information on this branch of the du Bois family, but it is all in French. I could not identify the wife's coat of arms. Kind regards.

Thank you Nobilityhouse. Very welcome information.
My French is good enought to read. Is there a link to the French information regarding this branche of the family Du Bois?
Kind regards,

They are very long links. For the easiest research I put the phrase du Bois, comte de Tertu into Google. A lot came up, some of it in Google Books. Cheers.
