Help with ring ID
Hello, I have this ring and I am trying to figure out the Marker and approximate age if possible. The "ing" seen in the picture of the mark is from the word "streling". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Re: Help with ring ID
My background is costume jewelry, not sterling, so please consider this food for further research not an pat identification.
The mark on your ring is similar that of Uncas Manufacturing (1911 - present, Rhode Island) who is known almost exclusively as a ring maker. Uncas marks I know are inward pointing arrows, e.g. >U<, and U transected by arrow. Uncas, like other costume jewelry makers, sometime make sterling "bridge" jewelry as well as used sterling extensively during WWII to conserve on base metal for the war effort .
