Help identify on silver brooch

Post by Kristi »

Hello,
I bought this brooch on online auction and I know about this jewelry absolutely nothing.
Can anyone identify the country or maker?
I apologize for the bad photos and thank you for any help.

Given the maker's mark, which is very French in form and style, and the nature of the piece, which seems to be a tourist piece from the Islamic world, I would think Algeria or another former French colony in North Africa or the Middle East would be a strong possibility.

Hello Kristi,

Is it possible to have you make the images of the hallmarks larger? We cannot see what hallmark is on the point, and possibly another angle of the other marks will reveal additional details that will help with their ID.

thanks,

And even though its a novelty item, it could have been intended to have secondary useage for the blade--too small for practical letter opener but perhaps something like cutting/ripping threads etc.. Such items can often be targeted toward an individual's interests/hobbies.
