Is is marked sterling anywhere? if not I'd say it's coin silver which is great as far as I'm concerned. Don't know what the pattern is, but with the medallions it is a very attractive and probably desirable piece.

It does have the full "lion-anchor-G" hallmarks for Gorham, but no "COIN" or "STERLING" designation, interesting! ::: Also, is this a creamer? There are interesting attachments on the side with metal loops at the top, I wonder what the purpose of that would be?

I guess it could be a creamer, or a waste-bowl for a tea set, but it could have had another purpose?

These all fall under the category "Medallion Pattern," and in your case it appears to be a female ancient Greek woman in profile. There have also been seen other medallions, such as male ancient Greek soldiers with interesting ancient helmets on their heads, and I have seen a few Greek gods such as Pan and Medusa and Achilles heads. Medallion patterns are desirable indeed!
