European Box - German?

Post by bstaunto »

Hey team,

Found this little box in a thrift shop today. Had to put of elbow grease into cleaning it up, but it's a nice little box.

But I can't quite work out the hallmarks. It seems to be a key, 13 and a maker's mark CX.

I think it's probably German? From the first half of the nineteenth century?

But keen to hear peoples thoughts on both the hallmarks and the style of the box.

Thanks, Ben.

nice box an congratulation
(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

It is Pernau in Estonia. Maker (CK) = Christian Krautwedell
citizen 1746, +30.11.1778

I think this box is about from 1750-60.
