Dutch Bell Novelty - Elephant Milk maid

Post by natNYC »

I assume this is dutch from the design.
has a milk maid in a city scene, in what looks like bell with a cut away.
impressive relief work.
elephant design on the top.
markings include
925
BHM
looks like a ship, lion and "N"

any info or ideas about this?

Hi Nat,

It's German, Hanau.

See Neresheimer at: https://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_hanau_marks_01.html

Hi,
BHM stands for Berthold Hermann Muller, well known importer of Hanau silver to UK.
You can identify London date letter on the right for exact year of the import (after 1904).
