I have this knife that I have no history on and I'm wondering what the purpose might be and any idea of the maker, age or country it might be from. The top is marked 950 and has an oval maker's mark that is very small and illegible. Based on my research on 950 silver, I'm thinking it is French or British, but I don't find oval maker's marks for those countries. I'm unable to get a clear picture of the marks due to how small they are (stamped on the back of the handle in the second groove up from the blade). I've even looked at them with a loup but the maker's mark appears blank. Blade itself appears to be vermeil. Assume it is a serving knife of some sort.

I'd suggest you hold your jeweller's loupe against the lens of your mobile phone and take 10 or 15 photos with different angles of light.
Generally, at least one will be fine and suitable for posting.
