I have just seen this offered for sale on e-bay, I'm not the seller nor am I in the market to buy it.
I hope this is not against the posting rules, but I would be interested in finding out if this item is real or a fake, looking at the hall mark it looks wrong to me.

Those must be the marks you are referring to;a fake and not a dangerous one.
The faked marks (most likely in China) are very poor reproduction of genuine marks;and because the Chinese are not familiar with Cyrillic letters the egg was made by ФАБЕРХЕ (letter X instead of Ж).
But marks aside,it is unbelievable people still cannot understand Faberge made items of superb craftsmanship and quality,flawless enamel and precious stones - nothing to be seen in faked egg.
