Hello

Your object was made by Auguste-Démophile Touron, cutler, working in Paris at 35 rue Mondétour. He registered his mark, initials AT, symbol a Saint-Louis cross, on 14 May 1824. No end date is given, but your object was made after 1838 as indicated by the Minerva head silver standard mark.

Touron was succeeded by Parisot in about 1840, which later became Parisot-Gallois. See:

viewtopic.php?p=100794&hilit=Touron#p100794

Therefore your object was made between 1838-1840.

I assume that this is a knife as the maker has stamped his name on the blade. It is always helpful to know what the object is when researching.

Regards.

See Arminjon vol. I, no. 004427, p. 81.

You're welcome

Yes, Minerva in an octagonal reserve indicates 950 standard silver. A barrel-shaped reserve is used for 800 standard.

Regards.

Auguste Demophile Touron

Born: 7 Mar 1801, Baccarat, Meurthe-et-Moselle, son of Jean Baptiste Touron and Catherine Petit
Married: Claudine Janthial (d. 7 May 1836)
Died: 7 Jun 1868, Draveil, Essonne

He is still listed in Paris in 1842 as Touron et Cie, but in 1845 as Touron (successeur Parisot).
