Marcel Boucher (1899-1965) is acknowledged as one of the greatest costume designers and manufacturers in 20th century America. French born, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1925 and designed for both Cartier and Mazer before opening his own firm in 1937. His design skill and manufacturing standards were superior and it is often difficult to discern the difference between a Boucher costume piece and a contemporary precious metal jewel. Marcel Boucher died in 1965 and the company continued on until 1972 under the guidance of his widow Sandra.
