Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger opened a small store on Broadway in 1901 to sell personal accessories. In 1930, they began designing and manufacturing costume jewelry under the name Cohn & Rosenberger, Inc. In 1943 Cohn & Rosenberger, Inc. changed its name to Coro, Inc., combining the first two letters of each partners name. In 1929 Coro opened a factory in Providence, RI which became the largest and most modern costume jewelry factory in the world. In 1933 Coro began the manufacture of Corocraft in England. Coro was one of the most important designers of costume jewelry patenting a huge number of unique and diverse designs.
