Re: Sterling Serving Spoon Mark Identification Moulton?

I think it's MON**** so not Moulton. Could it be Monroe? The first initial is I or T.

Re: Mark Identification Early American Coin Silver?

Would you say it is 1850's or so? The bowl is narrow, 4.2 cm at it's widest point, with a flat edge measuring 2mm if that helps at all.

Re: Mark Identification Early American Coin Silver?

Great sleuthing. It is GD. I can just see the G under a loop in just the right light. What is the zig zag line for?

Re: Sterling Serving Spoon Mark Identification Moulton?

Thank you so much for the reply. I can't seem to get any better angles. It is so worn. The third letter could be a U but could also be a D or N. I'll keep trying on the photo.
Thanks again and have a great week.

Sterling Serving Spoon Mark Identification Moulton?

This sterling silver serving spoon measures 10" and weighs just over 80 grams. The mark is worn but I thought it might be Moulton. Any help identifying this mark is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rebeca http://www.rebecan.com/sil.jpg http://www.rebecan.com/sil2.jpg http://www.rebecan.com/sil4....

Thank you, Pat, for the information. My other question is 'what was the dish was used for? and does it have a name? I thought maybe bread because of the holes but I really don't know. Any ideas?
