6 April 1725 Andrew Raven of the Parrish of Westham in Stratford, Essex will proved at London. Ambrose Stevenson silversmith (Grimwade p.670) and Daniel Cowalet (Cowald? Grimwade p.475) "a German a silversmith" both of London were two of Andrew's executors.

Gorham's mark has had quite a history. It was good enough to end up in a court case. In my opinion it was not intended to totally imitate a Birmingham, England hallmark, but just needed to resemble the mark in order to cash in on the known quality of British silver. From what I have recently read, gilding was also used to resist corrosion from salt.
