Hello, somebody can help me? I suppose, this ladle has a 13-loth mark from Hungarian Pécs (Fünfkirchen). But i don't know any more. My sources claims, exactly this hallmark was used 1810-1824, can be? For me, ladle design seems to be somewhat new, cca 1850? But this can be my personal impression. An...

Re: Czech Silver Bowl? Soldier-in-Helmet ??? Stag/Buck

Hello,
absolutely not czech (czechoslovak) hallmark. Suppose silver plated, but also these marks are unknown to me.
Czech hallmarks are always raised, not pressed. (and it is chamois, not deer).
Here original CSSR mark:

Vienna plate, Krupp Essen?

Hello, somebody can clarify me this silver plate marking? I don't know why there are two maker marks (RS and HD) and what it mean? Possibly some coopperation between these two makers? I don't have seen two maker marks on Wienna silver never before. Third mark, Schwarz&Steiner, is probably retail...

Re: unknown mark

Many thanks, AG2012. I must apologize for this confusing post. After repeated and deep scratch test with schwerters reagens, it is obvious handle is only plated. I was confused firstly due to thick plating - i suppose silver plate No.40 is not wery thick and flat scratch is sufficient - evidently no...

Hamburg 1864

Hello, i have some question about Hamburg before 1888. 1, What purity was standard this time? This spoon was RTG measured (two locations) and silver content is greater than 13 - almost 14 loth (85,5-87,8 % Ag). Interesting is also high lead content, typical for old (i.e. low quality) silver 2, What ...

Jezler 1944

Hello, friends, recently I have found this nice tea spoon. I know, it was made 1944 in Switzerland by Jezler. But i am somewhat confused by this. Why someone made at the WWII. end spoons from massive silver for soldiers? Can somebody clarify who, why and for whom made these spoons? It was some offic...

Re: Ladies compact 835 with 3 initials K-E or R-E American silver???

Hello,

i don't thing it is Czechoslovakian. Purity 835 is not common for czechoslovak silver. This purity was official after 1929, but there must be adittional official hallmark (triangle 1929-41,41-49, other form later). Also, CS compacts are marked on all parts.

Re: Rat-tail mocca spoons

Many thanks, Dendriet. Yes, 3 - spoons are different from 2 - spoons. So, it is set of two similar, hallmarked Dutch spoons made by Schuss between 1883-90. And of three similar, unmarked spoons from unknown origin. Between these two sets is different pattern engrawing and also different whole spoons...

Hello, friends, this nice mocca spoon set i saved from devastation. I don't made chemical tests, but i am almost sure, it is solid, gilded silver. But all other is somewhat confusing for me. About design : they are hand engraved in typical rococo design, also they have rat-tail bowl and dog-nose. So...

Re: Prague makers mark IFH

Many thanks, Krisztian, for Your report.
And whats your practice about this mark appearance?
As i have write, i have seen surely some hundreds of 13-loth austrian hallmarks, but not a single one for 15-loth.
regards and merry christmas
