Re: Help identifying a silver mark

Peter you are very kind replying to me as quickly as you do, I realise its voluntary so thank you. After reading a little more I think you are right about it being Hanau silver, although you write "Hanau style". Do you mean it is unlikely to be made by a Hanau silversmith, or do you write ...

Re: Help identifying a silver mark

Hi, I have been able to take some quick pics of the object for you. The first picture is one of the supports and the second is from the top. I assume you are right about it not being Dutch as you clearly would know far more than I. The jeweller I spoke to yesterday said it was from Holland but as I ...

Re: Help identifying a silver mark

Thank you for your reply oel, yes the water is definitely getting murkier. How would I even get started trying to research pseudos as I am not even sure which country its was manufactured in. To me, without the marks it does actually look similar to other objects I have seen manufactured in the Neth...

Re: Help identifying a silver mark

Hello, I have just been told it is Dutch but that's as far as we got, not totally convinced he knew what he was talking about but hey..maybe. I think it is pretty old though, just had a look at the Netherlands section in Tardy and found some marks that are similar. Assay office for Zutphen looks a b...

Help identifying a silver mark

Image

Good evening

Does anyone recognise these marks please? The middle one looks similar to a Maison Commune mark for 1787 Paris. Although I don't think it is French, possibly Dutch, Flemish ? Would be grateful for any help you can offer.

Many thanks

Hello everyone I have drawn a blank trying to find the makers mark for this item, its a modern piece of silver, with a mark that looks like a rubbed O conjoined with a G. It might of been commissioned by a perfume manufacture to accompany some sort of gift set although hopefully someone will recogni...

Tested as sterling silver although no marks and a family crest ?

https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Hello, Does anyone recognise this family crest? I believe the ladle to be 18th - 19th century and probably has a whale bone handle. There are no hallmarks, and no areas that look like they may have been rubbed away. Altho...

Re: Does anyone recognise these marks ?

Hello I have just showed the marks to a friend of mine who lives in China. He said he knows nothing about silver but 银制 translates to English as made by silver, and 旭浩 could be the name of the silversmith. 旭 means sun, 浩 means big. Although he did say that it is Japanese and not Chinese, as the Chin...

Hello Thank you Hose. Interesting to know that the content was divided into 16 parts, and thank you Qrt.S for qualifying Hose's knowledge and counter value. Equally grateful for the history info regarding Marius and his father. I also read that they are well respected Norwegian silversmiths that mad...

Re: Does anyone recognise these marks ?

Hello Trev, I am still unable to find any similar marks. As I said previously, the website post about the Korean silver allowed me to confirm it is Chinese silver. That is all I can find at present. Learning the silver marks for a country that uses a different language, obviously takes time, experie...

Re: Could someone identify this spoon for me please ?

Hi Hose_dk, Thank you for your reply I appreciate you sharing the knowledge. I cant find any other 19th century Norwegian silversmiths other than Marius Hammer with the same style initials. It would be great if you could check your book, or maybe provide the details of the book so I could try to fin...

Hi Hose_dk, Thank you for taking the time to look at the photo, apologies if it is not clear enough. I have uploaded a couple more, one of the whole spoon and the marks. Hopefully they are clearer. Regards Maureen https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

Re: Does anyone recognise these marks ?

Hi Trev. Sorry I don't have another picture at present. It's a small silver pot with typical bamboo decoration. Your recent post regarding the new Korean section has allowed me to understand the character at the top and can now confirm the marks are Chinese. Although I cant yet find the others. Maur...
