Hi All,
I have a nice sugar bowl and milk jug I cannot identify the maker.
Pictures below.
Makers mark reads 'SF' - 'AJF' ?
I believe the other marks date it to 1889, Sheffield.

Hi Trev,
It's 7.5cm tall, and yes the top section does come off to reveal a shallow recess in the top part of the piece.
Could it be a candle holder? But then why have the top removable lid?

Thanks Warren. Further to this you will see that the removeable top section has lots of small speckles/dots. Will this clean off, or should I leave it? I have heard stories that antique silver should never/rarely be cleaned - is this so? If I can clean it, what is the best solution to bring it up sh...

Hi All, I have recently acquired a silver cocktail shaker from an antiques fair and was hoping people might be able to clarify the hallmarks for me. I know it is Sterling and London made but what year does the 'N' represent. Also and I correct in thinking it was made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths...
