Ok, I took out my magnet. The stem is super magnetic but bowl nothing at all. So this is silver plated steel.

Re: Teaspoon with a crown emblem
Backside bowl teaspoon, the damaged spot, in my opinion shows the spoon is silverplated. Peter. I have just sanded and buffed the back of the bowl to get rid of a very deep scratches. No nickel came through but a metal resembling a more grey silver color. I now wonder if this could be silver plated...

Teaspoon with a crown emblem
Good day Found this teaspoon today. I think it could be silver and not plated. It's marked with a wheel in triangle, S L and then an anchor. I am also interested in the K.D with crown mark on it. Re: Provincial Fork
I did some research. I believe it is a Cape Silver fork by Georg Egbertus Wolhuter.

Good day Another market find. Found it among silver plated cutlery. It only has 2 marks that I can't seem to read. Any help will be welcome. Unknown floral teaspoon
Good evening I found this teaspoon earlier this week. It has 3 marks on it, WS, 800 and unknown mark. It is also engraved in the bowl. I used my disection microscope to take pictures of the marks. Thank you, I wonder if these spoons were remarked after they broke up. Still can't believe I found these among silver plated cutlery.silvermakersmarks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:31 am The partnership is noted by the Edinburgh Incorporation of Goldsmiths as "first mentioned 1810" and "last mentioned 1816"

Re: Pair of 1815 spoons by J Newlands
Good evening
So I did some digging and found that the original mark on these spoons would have been by Newlands & Grierson. N & G. I am still trying to figure out when they broke up.

Hand made brass tray with plating
Good day I found this beautiful hand made tray today. It is made of copper with a very primitive type of plating on it. I reminds me of Persian work but not certain. I believe the hanging hook is a later add on. Any help will be welcome. Groete Jannie https://i.postimg.cc/CZM1WgdX/20240615-121024.jp...

Good evening I found this interesting wood and metal holder today. It was made from mahogany wood from the La Marguerite paddle ship that got scrapped in 1925. The lion handles and rim seems to be plated. The badge on the bottom could be solid but no markings. Anyone seen a similar piece? Groete Jan...
