This knife has been in my family for many many years. I remember it since I was a kid!!!, but I don´t know anything about it. No age, no origin, no use (may a butter knife??????.........my grandma always used to spread the butter with it).

Knife rest George Fenwick??

Hello every one.

Here we have a pair of knife rest whose hallmarks are worn-out, or even incomplete.

As far as I can see, they are Scottish (THISTLE-EDINBURGH) and georgian. George Fenwick is probably the silversmith ...

Well! Please, accept my apologize for my great ignorance in this matter.

I have read on the web that the Hanau silver industry chose mark its output with fantasy marks. In my opinion my saltcellar is not marked with these ones.
All the silversmith in Hanau used to use these ...

..........but, I am not familiarize with German silver so I am very confuse about Hanau. When you say "cries Hanau" are you saying that may be a fake?, Was all the produccion from Hanau fakes?.
