Re: Silver Mounted Sgian Dubh RS Richardson Edinburgh
Thanks Trev. Do you think the maker marks might be the same in the referenced link? If so at least it narrows it down to a timeframe.

Re: Silver Mounted Sgian Dubh RS Richardson Edinburgh
I did find this and it is possible, there doesn't seem to be a pellet between the letters but the stamp looks very similar: https://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Edinburgh-T.html#TD I also think the dates they show are very possible to be around the age of this knife. Here is a couple of pics o...

Re: Silver Mounted Sgian Dubh RS Richardson Edinburgh
What circumstances would exist that an item made of silver and offered in a legitimate retailer would escape having any hallmarks? I believe I recall reading at some time in the dim past that sometimes there were abbreviated markings in the case of an apprentice made item but I don't know if that's ...

Silver Mounted Sgian Dubh RS Richardson Edinburgh
I recently acquired this Sgian Dubh that I'd like to and have researched to no avail, the approximate date of manufacture and who the silversmith might have been. There are no hallmarks on the knife or sheath only the makers mark which is T.D The blade is marked RS Richardson & Co over Edinburgh...

Re: Birmingham Maker Greenberg Cup
Thanks Trev,
That is a great synopsis and puts the style in line with the date nicely.
The company certainly made well designed and constructed items if this cup is an indication.
Very much appreciate your input.

Birmingham Maker Greenberg Cup
I picked this cup up off of an online auction and am quite pleased with it but I'm a little perplexed about the hallmarks. The maker mark is E.J.G. which looks like many I have seen. I don't quite get the date mark. I bought it thinking it was pretty consistent with the ca. 1900 date marks but now t...

Re: spoon marked by 2 makers B and Schwartz
That is a great path to follow. I found this from the same source: http://www.alienor.org/collections-des-musees/fiche-personne-21778-solinger-joseph-adolphe Very much the same maker mark. It would be interesting to find if the B marking, which may have a star above it also, has some regional relati...

Re: spoon marked by 2 makers B and Schwartz
Well, I've studied the thoughts on the "B" marked spoon and tried to follow any avenues I could to see what my spoon might be and have hit a brick wall. Is there anyone who has any thoughts on who the maker and era of the spoon might be?

Re: spoon marked by 2 makers B and Schwartz
I hope that this way of posting in is the most helpful to others and myself as I'd like to figure out what they are. I thought that since I found this older inquiry about what I believe is a related piece that rather than start a new thread that this could enhance the older one. I found a pair of sp...
