Re: PA crowned mark on condiment spoon
Thanks Aguest, an interesting question indeed as to whether the mark of Pierre Amraux II may have been used beyond his lifetime. It would be great to hear from other forum users whether there are known illustrations of the crowned PA mark for comparison. Another interesting thread I came across sugg...

PA crowned mark on condiment spoon
Hi all - not sure if anything has come across this mark before? I'd estimate the spoon to be c.1800 - sadly in very poor condition, feel like it may have been underground at some point in its life! Maker's mark twice in irregular-shaped punch. Any thoughts welcome. https://i.imgur.com/qMdF7bE.jpg ht...

A.MD silver mark on teaspoon
Haven't been able to track down the maker of this feather-edge teaspoon. A.MD struck twice - bottom marked. C. 1780? Unusual chased decoration to finial. Any ideas welcome!

My gut feeling on this is Indian (or other colonial) but have yet to find an appropriate partnership!

Re: Where does this box with stone inset come from?
Now solved! Indeed turned out to be Australian.
RI = Richard Ivey (active 1945 - 2000's ; Adelaide)
Used symbol of crescent moon as this is the alchemical symbol for silver.
The above from an excellent book: Marks on Australian silver : 1950-2005 by Christine Erratt

Re: Unknown family crest on skewer
Hello all! I have an Antique 1817-1818 Georgian Sterling Silver Meat Skewer By William Chawner London with a crest on the front of it. Was wondering if anyone might recognize it. Thanks! https://i.postimg.cc/KjJpNqzz/IMG-1325.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mk2Q9rNH/IMG-1324.jpg Hello, I believe this to b...

Re: Marquess?
Hello, No, not a Marquess. The crown shown is known as a 'Ducal coronet' (not to be confused with a Duke's coronet) or sometimes called a 'crest coronet'. It does not denote rank, but is just part of the design of the crest. It looks to me like the crest is: "Out Of A Ducal Coronet An Eagle's H...

Re: Count not currently identified
This could be the one for von Morsky (Grafen von Morsky) although there might be other families who have a as a charge. If the hatching is made according to the standard practice the shield should be red like in the Morsky coat of arms. If you have time you might be able to find some of the other c...

Russian Grand Duke/Duchess?
Hi all, I believe these arms (on a 19th century piece of silver flatware) to be Russian, and (noting the crown) possibly for a Grand Duke/Duchess? I can't deconvolute the cypher (which hopefully would allow narrowing down a candidate) so any help here much appreciated! All best wishes, L https://i.i...

Re: Count’s coronet over an escutcheon:a sphinx under a cross
That appears to be the coat of arms of Count Anton von Prokesch-Osten. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_von_Prokesch-Osten That's excellent! Thank you so much! :) The only difference is the direction the sphinx is facing, but could this be down to the engraver/graphic artist knowing the con...
