Re: Dutch Zwolle salt cellars (18th century)
Peter, Thank so you so much for your thoughtful answer. Two questions for you: 1. The book I referenced (Millers Encyclopedia), appears to show this town marking for 1721. I was curious if this is just simply wrong or if it is just not a comprehensive list of town markings? https://i.imgur.com/nd8jN...

Dutch Zwolle salt cellars (18th century)
Found a pair of these salt cellars. My literature suggests the town mark for Zwolle from ~1721 and based on the date letter this would be 1719. I believe the 'GR KEUR' marking signifies first quality silver. I believe the oval with circles to be a makers mark. The only thing I could find similar was...

Unknown hallmark, "JB"? Script repeating on silver candle snuffing scissors
Hello all,
Any help is appreciated with this item, thanks. I am not sure of it's purity or origin so forgive me if posting in wrong place. But I think it's European of some kind.
Thanks

WB marking along with gothic font
Hi all, have a confusing one here.
One of these markings looks like a silverplate hallmark and the other looks like an old coin silver hallmark.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Possible Dutch piece? Right facing lion rampant
Hi gents, I recently purchased this piece and am having trouble identifying the hallmarks. My best guess is a worn Dutch hallmark? I think older German or Hanau is another reasonable suspicion. It tests as ~80% silver. Makers marks are "UH" and then a right facing lion passant that appears...

Doubled T markings on a spoon, engraved 1807
I do not know the origin of this mark. My literature suggests it looks like a "Tampere" town mark from Finland, but there are no other hallmarks.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Scovills & Buckingham
Does anyone have info on Scovills & Buckingham? I am primarily just curious whether these are nickel silver or coin silver. I see many auctions online listing their wares as coin silver but from my research they made nickel silver items. Thanks https://i.imgur.com/tXVJkRE.jpeg https://i.imgur.co...

Help with this script hallmark
I got this bowl today. It is engraved for 1803. My best guess is that this is an early marking of Thomas Coit, can anyone confirm this? I cannot find any images of this exact hallmark anywhere, but I can find similar of his. https://i.imgur.com/dFS6VNK.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/RbJrXxn.jpeg Thank you

Re: Augsburg Date Mark/Makers
Very hard to tell due to being worn. Assuming it is in the same orientation as the date mark, this looks like I O ? Maybe the last letter is a t?

Augsburg Date Mark/Makers
Found a spoon today with an old Augsburg date mark. My literate says they used the N for both 1757-9 and 1802. I would also love some help with the maker, if anyone knows.

Any help with this potentially Russian mark?
Not sure if Russia is the origin or not but it looks close to Russian marks to me.
The hallmark appears to be two figures holding hands and then possibly an assay mark?
This is on a 'Kings pattern' fork.
Thanks

Question about Black, Starr, & Frost
I have multiple pieces by Black Starr and Frost. My pieces are labeled only with their name and have no additional markings anywhere. There is no denotation of purity. Every piece I have seen of theirs for sale is being advertised as real sterling and I have never been able to find a piece being adv...

Please show us an image of the spoon and a fuller-sized image of the marks. Also please explain why some marks are "obviously" worn off; are there any traces farther along the shaft? I am asking because I am not so sure that these are British marks. Phil I say obviously because that one m...
