Re: Tray with arabic text, silver?

Hello

This is Moroccan. Likely nickel silver/maillechort

The lower line reads

فاس المغرب or Fes Maghrib

The first word on the right of the upper line is "intaj" انتاج meaning production. The rest is the name of the workshop/company but I can't figure it out

Hope this is of interest

Re: Candlestick from Iran (?)

Hello

This could be كاويان Kavian or possibly كاوياني Kaviani

Kavian is a small town in Iran - an unlikely hub of silversmithing - but both words can be family names. It is more likely the name of the smith although I have not come across the name before in connection with Iranian silver.

There ...

Re: Unusual Stamped Silver Mark on Plated Coffee Set

Hello again

I found the same items posted on another site with additional photos

One of the words above the head looks like العروسة (the bride). Perhaps the image is the head of a bride?

Can you post crisper images of the text both above and below the head and of the head itself?

Thanks

Re: Silver box with arabic hallmark?

Hello

The number is 600 and the stamp appears Egyptian although stamps on Egyptian silver normally comes in sets of three - fineness, city and year

According to https://www.silvercollection.it/EGYPTSILVERHALLMARKS.html

"Originally the silver fineness was indicated in hundredths (two digits: 60 ...

Hello Vantlicht

The label reads
کارخانه جواهر - Jewelry Factory
نقره - silver
وطلاسازی فدوی - and Goldsmith Fadavi (Fadavi is a Persian name)
اصفهان - Isfahan

At the bottom it reads

مثقال -- shekel which is a very old (ancient) Persian unit of volume. It must have survived in the jewelry trade ...

Hello

This is Moroccan from Fes فاس which can be seen in the lower part of the central medallion

The lower script reads معدن فضّة ممتازة and a literal translation is "excellent silver metal" but I don't know what that means in terms of silver content

The upper script is دار (dar) or "house of ...

Re: The picture on the Persian box

Hello Alex

I believe that the images on your bowl are inspired by the Achaemenid friezes at Persopolis.

There is a fine example of this type of imagery on a Persian cigarette box held in the British Museum. Please check https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/W_2012-6024-1 for images and ...

Re: The picture on the Persian box

Hello Alex

Interesting item.

This imagery appears to be Zoroastrian (Parsi) and the box is possibly from Bombay.

Please google "parsi parsee zoroastrian silver plaques" and you ought to find, on the site of a reputable London dealer, related images, more information and bibliographic references ...

Hello Peter

I agree that the stamp does not bear a close resemblance to the crisp text which you have provided

Hello Ubaranda

My apologies for the delay in replying. I don’t know much about the decorative elements of Armenian silverware, so your question prompted some research.

Re: Silver tray, Arabic mark? Need help here...

Hello

Interesting observation about an Armenian connection

There were a number of Armenian silversmiths who moved from Van to Tabriz in northern Iran and and some moved south to Tehran and Isfahan
