The letters R and M near a 3-pointed star.

Any ideas who could be the silver smith? The letters R and M near a 3-pointed star. None of the standard lists seem to have this one. Thanks for you input. S https://s17.postimg.org/8sm22s50b/2016_10_03_15_09_03.jpg https://s17.postimg.org/te0tuoml7/20161003_150647.jpg Edited Url removed

Re: Incomplete Mark / Mountain with A and M

:) Merci vielmals... Unfortunately no other marks. I have checked it out thoroughly. What is unusual about it is that the base is unusually thick making the whole thing a bit heavier that you might expect by looking at it. So there might be some heavier base metal in there. The weight makes it sligh...

Incomplete Mark / Mountain with A and M

I can't seem to find this one in the catalogues. It is incomplete but has a clear A and M on either side of the mountain. To the left of the peak there appears to be a number 5. It is not easily discernable as a 5 in this photo but with a good magnifying glass and some twisting and turning it is mos...

Re: Enigmatic Gold Mark AV superimposed upon each other

Thanks Krisztián

That is news to me that A1 is Wiener Neustadt and not Vienna and 22 ct. Especially with gold one would expect a finesse mark.

Re: Unusual Italian Mark 800 wheel in a wheel

Thanks for the information. But the other mark? Strange that they don't all have the same marks.

Unusual Italian Mark 800 wheel in a wheel

I have a set of three candle sticks all marked 800 but 2 have what appears to be the post 1968 Italian mark (5-pointed star, number 176 and FI) presumably Florence. The third candle stick though has only a unique "wheel in a wheel" stamp without the star, number FI stamp which the others h...

Mysterious addition stamp Bruckmann & Söhne

Hi, I have discovered a mysterious additonal mark above the normal half moon, crown and 800 marks for this Bruckmann & Söhne cup. It is in a quasi tear drop frame and looks to me a bit like a bouquet of flowers when I look through a good magnifying glass but it is not clear enough to photograph...

Enigmatic Gold Mark AV superimposed upon each other

Hello, I would be grateful for any clues as to decifering this gold mark. It is on a Longines pocket watch from the year 1912. Assembled in Lviv (Lwów), which at the time was in the Austrian Empire. I was told by a watchmaker that in those days Longines and other Swiss companies sent theh finished ...

Great! Thanks Trev. So it looks like the "G" with a crown is for Goteborg, the three crowns for Sweden and the B7 is for 1904. But does anyone have any idea what the LLL could stand for? Or the 185? Could the 185 stand for the gold content? Is there such a thing as 5K gold? Or could what l...

Clear yet mysterious gold marks

Hello,

Can anyone make head or tail of these marks. They seem to be very clear but are not listed in any catalogue I can find.

This triangle with star is on a watch chain.

Ooops. That was Carl Mayr, not Carl Meyr.

I will let you know if the present owner, unfortunately not a Mayr, replies.

More than pity, I have great gratitude. Thanks so much for taking the time to help. I have located a gold smith in Graz, Austria under the name of "Carl Meyr and son since 1830". I have already written to them to ask if they can confirm the providence of these cufflinks. They were by the w...

Thanks Tom,

The CM is clearly in an oval so it doesn't look like Karl Maurer made them.

For the record.

Gest. in German means "Gestorben" = "died".

Jährig in German means "years old".

So Karl Maurer died on Feb. 22. 1923 at the age of 70.

I checked the marks again and the intials are clearly CM and not CW.

The fox nose has a letter A on it.

So I guess the A, like with silver, stands for Vienna.

But who could this CM be?

English trans. for the German mark called a"Tremulierst

Is there an English equililent for the German Tremulierstrich, which ich jagged mark put on antique silver. It is apparently a mark which guarantees that the silver was tested twice.

It is a rather unsightly and long jagged mark and I wonder why they couldn't come up with a more elegant one.

The Swiss import mark would make sense since I found this spoon in Switzerland.

May I ask what indicates that the designer was Helene Brandt-Lock?

Thanks,

S
