I'm new to the forum. I came to the site to try to identify hallmarks on a piece of old English silver or silver plate, which came from a late relative. I have already looked at the information on the site about British silver hallmarks, however, the hallmarks on this tea or coffee pot that I have are indecipherable. They seem to be badly stamped or perhaps plated over (if it's plated). I wonder if anyone here can help.
This piece came from an older relative who was from London, but was sent to Edinburgh as a child, to escape London during the war. She later (1960s?) moved to the United States, got married, and lived in the U.S. for the rest of her life. I don't know whether she brought this piece with her when she originally came to the United States, or if it was purchased on a later visit to Britain. She may also have purchased it in an antique shop. That's all I know about the provenance, except that it clearly says "Made in England" on the bottom, along with these indecipherable marks.
This may actually be silver. My relative owned some very fine things. I thought it was silver at first, but when I noticed that the hallmarks were so difficult to read, I decided perhaps it's plated.

I would appreciate any help in identifying this piece. Thank you.
