Souvenir Spoon Marked with what looks like a monkey and a 16

Post by luckypenny »

I found a bunch of souvenir spoons and am having trouble identifying this one and I've been searching all morning. First marking almost looks like a monkey inside of a J, then says sterling and then has the number 16. Anyone recognize this? Thanks

Hi ~ Welcome to the forums. Please see 'Towle': American Marks - T2 Not where I can check right now, but don't believe this was a named pattern, probably just referenced as 'No. 16'...

Thank You! Once I thought monkey I couldn't picture it as anything else, haha. It would probably help if I was more familiar with older fonts and saw this as a T and not a J. I've got several other spoons and silver items I found recently but will try my best to not have to keep coming here and asking about them. I've been learning quite a bit about silver over the past couple days and look forward to learning even more here.

Hi Luckypenny,

There's no limit to the questions you can ask, and even if you already have your answer, we always enjoy seeing someone's collection.
