Please can anyone help me with this enamel case. I think it is french. As well as the marks shown in photo it also has 930 and 4 stamped on it. How can I date it know where and who made it. the letters for the makers mark are F.S. Thank any help gratefully apraciated.
Hello, pics are a little fuzzy, so some guessing is involved. Looks like Vienna, before 1922. Is that the letter 'A' beside the lady's head, which would make it Vienna? 'F S' appears several times, it is essential to know what exactly is between the two letters. A cross, a dot, a line ? Could You describe that ? Best wishes, Bahner
Thanks for your reply and sorry about fuzzy pictures the marks are hard to get close to. Under a jewlers loop there looks to be an S to the left of the head and an A to the right there is a . (dot) between the makers marks F.S there may be one at end F.S. and it is in a rectangle with slight rounded indents to the sides. I hope this helps and thanks
Hello, so this is Vienna, the 's' beside the woman's head is probably a '3' for 800/1000 fineness, maker is most likely Franz Schmidt, active since 1911. Best wishes, Bahner
thank you very much can you give me any more information or point me to where to look. Anything would be gratefully apraciated. I thought the 930 was the silver content but I guess I was wrong. Has anyone any idea what the case was made for it measures lxwx d 8 3/4 x 2 1/4 x 1/4 inch or
82x 55 x 15 mm. thanks
