Help Identify Tabasco Pepper Sauce Pierced Holder!

Post by shadeone »

Greetings!

I obtained this pierced silver Tabasco / pepper sauce holder from eBay a week or so ago and am trying to identify the mark on it to give me a better idea of its timeframe. The Tabasco company historian said that it was indeed an old piece but the actual company had nothing to do with it. Any help is appreciated! Hopefully someone can identify the mark! These are the best pics I can get at the moment until I can get access to a better camera...
Thanks!

Hi - welcome to the forums. Boy, that's a rough one, am pretty sure it's the Wilcox & Wagoner/Watson Co. 'sword-in-wreath' mark, that's one of their piercing patterns. Nice to have the old Tabasco bottle, most of the old silver or silverplate holders for bottled sauces, canned milk, etc. are found empty (as they were originally sold) and few know their purpose.
